I’m back with another product review – but with a twist!!! Yup, this week I am going to review the Cara b Naturally hair products. What’s the twist??? Well, I used this product on myself, Lil Naturelle, and Baby Naturelle – so, if you have questions about how this product works on different hair types – hopefully these reviews will help.

I decided to challenge myself when Untrained Hair Mom called for volunteers to participate in the Copy Cat Hair Carnival.  With all the great kids hair style blogs out there, I never thought I could compete, but, Brooke is pretty convincing, so I decided, heck let me join the bandwagon.  The most intimidating part of the challenge was that no one knows who’s assigned to their blog until this week! So, with no further ado…I was assigned the blog – Hair Raising Adventures.

I gave Lil Naturelle all authority in deciding which hair style she would chose (I was so nervous because over at the Hair Raising Adventures – Mama M can cornrow and I CAN’T!). Luckily, Lil Naturelle chose the Criss Cross Twist Style.  Funny thing is that this style is a copy cat…so in essence, what I am showing you on the blog today is a copy cat of a copy cat.

Prior to creating the style, I prepared Lil Naturelle’s hair by:

1. Lil Naturelle’s hair was misted with a water and olive oil mix (I have no more jojoba oil!)

2.  I parted Lil Naturelle’s hair into six different, as even as possible, sections.

2. I used Kids Organics Shea Butter Detangling Moisturizing Hair Lotion to finger detangle her hair.

4.  I applied Pura Body Naturals Cupuacu Hair Butter.

5. I used a wide tooth comb to detangle.

The original style posted by Hair Raising Adventures used yarn, but since we did not have yarn, we added some flowers and beads on the end.  Hope you like this.  Don’t forget to stop by the Une Autre Naturelle Facebook page!

For those of you who know me, my go to style is the bun. I love it because it’s classy, classic, and versatile.  Below is another version of a bun that I like.  It’s fairly quick and simple to do.  If you want a video tutorial, please let me know! Enjoy!

Do you remember the the last post I had about hair banding.  If not, feel free to check it out here.  Many people use hair banding as a way to stretch their natural hair with out using heat.  Even though I think hair banding is a great technique, I actually use hair banding as a hair style.  The way I do this is by using color coordinated hair accessories!  Below are some pictures of one of my favorite hair styles using the hair banding technique.  This is a cute and playful look for a young girl.  It can easily be used for an older child by changing the color of the hair ties used and adding a flower. Hope you enjoy!

I was just looking through some flash drives when I stumbled upon this really cute style that Lil’ Naturelle sported in the begining of school.

For this style:

1. I flat twisted the front of her hair and added some beads to form a faux bang.
2. Then I flat twisted the top of her hair (using her ears as an end point)
3. I used hair bands to secure the flat twist.
4. I used curlformers to create the curls.

Ohhh, I loved this hair style! What do you think?

A few weeks back I showed you how to do ghana plaits / ghana threading. This style is great a protective style and its also as a great way to stretch your natural hair without using heat.  As promised, I did my first video tutorial on the process.  See below and let me know what you think!

I needed a quick style for Lil’ Naturelle last night so I attempted rope flat twist for the first time. Rope twist are a little different from regular two strand twist because you actually twist the hair with you fingers (like a finger coil) before you start the flat twists…hmm, I may have to do a quick video / picture tutorial. In the meantime, let me know what you think of this hair style. Took me about 15 minutes to complete – I am truly a rope twist amateur.

For this style:

1. I parted Lil’ Naturelle’s hair in a zig-zag formation
2. I did two flat rope twist; each half way down her head – using her ears as a marker
3. I used a pony holder to secure the hair
4. I loosely braided the remaining hair
5. I pinned the two braids together to form a bun
6. I used a colored head band and flower as a hair accessory!

I was a little sad yesterday, but my hubby was able to send me this picture text message with the following description: “Baby Naturelle realizes that she has a shadow”. He told me that she even started pointing at it and stepping on it…since her shadow refused to go away – she started yelling at it…she’ll figure it out!
