Hi!!  My name is Daphné and I’m the mommy behind the Une Autre Naturelle blog.

I originally started this blog to document my “loose natural hair” journey.  I specifically say “loose natural hair” because I have been natural since 2003 – but started out with locs.  In early 2010, with the help of my amazing hubby, I combed out my locs.  Yes – combed them out, feel free to read about it here.  Anyway, as I became more knowledgeable about the care of my natural hair, I simultaneously began taking better care of Lil’ Naturelle’s hair.  The more I learned, the more I wanted to share.

This past year has been one of tremendous hurdles and achievements.  The most joyous thing I experienced this year was the birth of my second daughter – Baby Naturelle.  Baby Naturelle was born with a head of beautiful curls – and caring for them has been a joy.

This past year I also experience death of a family member – my grandfather.  It was the first time I experienced death so close to home.  It made me realize the value of family and how precious our family and friends are.

So, due to this past years experiences, I feel that this blog has transformed itself from a single hair journey blog to a “family affair” blog.  I believe that there’s a little something for everyone who stops by Une Autre Naturelle.  Thank you for reading.

I love it! This can be the start of a movement for knowing and loving who we (natural women) are.

Great post Daphne. You’ll have to share how you keep your daughter natural. I am facing that dilemma. My daughter is 14 and wants to have the hair style of a 14 year old (can’t braid her hair any longer). She has no problem with natural hair but I had no ideas and turned to texturizer which killed my spirit to the core. I saw the error in my ways and stopped but now we are faced with ‘what now’?

    Any ideas???

@Annuri – I will definately blog on this. This is something that is becoming more and more challenging.

As a recently converted natural hair gal…I look forward to trying some of your conditioning formulas.

    Great Blog..
