Party Bun – Picture Tutorial

 

I recently posted this hairstyle on my facebook page and let me tell you, it was so well received that I had to do a picture tutorial. I plan to do a YouTube video shortly, but in the meantime – for all that requested it – I hope this helps!

*please note, that this hair style was originally done on flat ironed natural hair. I believe it can be done on stretched natural hair and still come out exquisite!*

What you will need:

• 6 hair ties / scrunchies
• plenty of hair pins
• brush
• stray bottle (if your hair is not flat ironed)
• wide tooth comb – to detangle the hair

Step 1:
Divide the hair into 6 sections. I used the scrunchie evolution bands (love these) to secure the hair. Use a wide tooth comb to make sure that each section is untangled the hair.

 

 

Step 2:
Using the picture diagram below, take section 1 and wrap it around the base of ponytail B. Use hair pins to secure section 1 around ponytail B.
Take section 2 and wrap that around the base of ponytail A. Use hair pins to secure section 2 around ponytail A.

 

Section 1 and section 2 will form an X

 

Step 3:
Still using the diagram, take section 3 and wrap it around the base of ponytail B. Use hairpins to secure section 3 around ponytail B.
Take section 4 and wrap it around the base of ponytail A. Use hairpins to secure section 4 around ponytail A.

Section 3 and section 4 will form and X

 

When steps 1 thru 3 are complete, the hair should look like this:

 

Step 4:
Take ponytail B and wrap it around ponytail A; use hairpins to secure
Take ponytail A and wrap it around ponytail B; use hairpins to secure *this last one is tricky because you can not disturb the sections that have already been secured*

 

 

 

 

 

Helpful hints:
If you want a tighter/smaller looking party bun, be sure to secure ponytail A and Ponytail B tightly.
For a fuller/larger bun, secure ponytail A and ponytail B loosely.
